Oil portraits are painted from life or photograph on panel (wood) or linen canvas. Paints are ground and medium is
mixed in Inger's studio. White and red lead are used according to the conventions of the old masters. The many layers add
to the feeling of translucency and depth.
Most heads are lifesize. Inger's favourite size canvas or panel is the "portable portrait" 36 x 40 cm (14" x 16"). Prices range around $2000 for a portrait this size. Sometimes gold or silver leaf is used for the background. For superior framing quality, Inger turns to Förgyllare Olle Jönsson & Son. |
